The steel itself is polished to an average roughess of 0.8 to 1.0 for an ultra smooth cycle. The ball bearing ball relieves torsion on your recoil spring for reduced wear and tear. Lastly, the two piece spring guide rod allows for even more customization for those that like using recoil buffers, or utilizing a shorter spring guide for compact slide variants.
